Measuring Chimney Lamp Shades

Chimney lamp shades are used on lamps with glass chimneys. Shades are made on a wire form with a centered ring fitter. This inner ring slides down over the glass chimney neck to rest on the chimney bulge. When measuring chimney lamp shades consider the following:

• Chimney shades have a splayed shape being wide at the bottom and narrow at the top.
• 14" chimney shades are used on standard size oil lamps (10"- 12" lamp base height).
• 12" chimney shades are used on smaller accent lamps and finger lamps.

Assembling lamps with chimney lamp shades is very straight forward. Required part list: lamp base with collar, lamp burner, chimney and chimney lamp shade. No shade holder is needed. Lamps can be either oil or electric.
