Use a Clip on Lamp Shade
Easy to use clip on lamp shade needs no additional shade holder. Shade is built on a wire frame with a two ring, spring clip mechanism which clips directly onto light bulb. Excellent on lamps. which do not have a shade holder or chimney.
No finial is used.

have 8" and 10" bottom fitters for use on dresser lamps, vanity lamps, buffet lamps, and candlestick lamps
Clipon lamp shades have a 2 wire looped fitter intended for standard light bulbs.
Shade fits snugly down onto light bulb with shade top being slightly above light bulb top.
Light bulb height affects the proportional relationship of clip on lamp shade to lamp base. The taller the light bulb the higher the shade will sit.
A small, narrow clipon fitter is made for
chandelier shades
which use a torpedo shaped bulb. This small fitter is only used on very small shades.
Lamps without shade holders can present a problem when it is difficult to add a lamp harp. An easy option for smaller lamps is to use a clipon
lamp shade adapter
. Special adapter attaches to ring washer / harp shade with a finial. Shade will then clip onto light bulb. These adapters will make shade sit higher on light bulb than true clip on lamp shades. That being said: they are an easy fix for some vintage and antique lamps.
