Antique cabinet locks, box locks, cabinet door locks, desk locks and drawer locks are all period styles used on antique furniture. When replacing an old lock it is first necessary to determine the type: surface lock, half mortise lock or full mortise lock. Cabinet door locks are most often surface locks mounted to the inside of doors. Antique cabinet locks most commonly used on furniture drawers, chest lids, and drop front desks are half mortise locks. Jewelry boxes and lift lid chests use box locks with a strike. Full mortise drawer locks are used on drawers and doors. Excellent on reproductions and vintage furniture all antique cabinet locks are copies of originals.
