- Backplate: a brass plate, circular, rectangular or period shape which mounts between wood and knob or pull.
- Bail: the actual handle of a drawer pull
- Bail Handle or Bail Pull: an early style handle originally secured with two cotter pins in the 1600's. By the late 1700's this style progressed to being held by two posts often with rosettes.
- Bin Pull: a projecting, cup shaped handle developed during the Victorian era for storage containers.
- Drop Pull: a single mount pendant which typically hangs from a backplate.
- Flush Pull or Recessed Pull: popularize on Campaign furniture, the entire handle is mortised into the wood providing a flush appearance.
- Oval Pull: is a oval stamped brass backplate with bail popularized by George Hepplewhite in the 1700's.
- Ring Pull: a handle with a circular bail.
- Rosette: a small backplate used with a knob or uses with a post to hold a bail .
- Rosette Pull: utilizes a bail with two rosettes and posts to hold it in place.
