Clear standard light bulbs have a smaller Torpedo shape that allows more air to circulate between the bulb and glass lamp chimneys decreasing heat build up. Standard light bulbs with their smaller torpedo shape, also work well as replacement bulbs on floor lamps with 3 outside candles. These standard light bulbs allow more space between the bulb and fabric lamp shades, decreasing the risk of damage to the shade.
