Drawer pulls, cabinet knobs and keyhole covers have a big impact on the overall appearance of antique furniture. Quality, style and period should each be considered when replacing antique handles, drawer knobs and escutcheons. Period designs and furniture makers influenced brass manufacturing methods. Chippendale drawer pulls were often cast brass where as Hepplewhite drawer pulls were stamped brass with delicate decorations. Furniture hardware ranged from Chippendale bail handles to more elaborate Victorian pieces. Carved wood drawer handles, porcelain knobs, glass pulls and black iron handles accented many country kitchens. Art Deco pulls provided a more streamline effect while Mission drawer handles represented the Arts and Crafts movement.
