Steel Box Locks

Steel Box Locks, with half mortise design, are used on chests and boxes with lift lids. Lock is mortised into interior of box front and strike attaches underneath lid. When closed, strike drops down into lock. Available in two sizes.

Backset:
• Distance between: selvedge-edge of lock to center-of-pin in keyhole. (see diagram above)
When replacing locks: the backset is most crucial as it must match cutout in furniture for lock to line up correctly with existing keyhole,

The lock mechanism is good quality and matched the old damaged antique lock almost perfectly.
