Gear Table Slides, 37-1/2 inch Leaf Opening

Gear Table Slides for up to 3 12" table leaves. Provides a 37-1/2" leaf opening. These are retractable table extenders for use on solid pedestal or non-dividing base tables where only the top extends and the base remains stationary. Equalizing rack & pinion assembly automatically extends or retracts both ends of table-top at the same time. One person can open tables to insert leaves while the base remains in the center. These equalizing table slides allow sliding with very little friction ensuring soft and easy sliding.

Expertly constructed of hardwood maple these quality table slides provide strong dependable service and smooth quiet action. These wood table slides have a specially designed arc, built into each side of slides, providing a continuous leveling support to table leaves when table tops are extended.

  • Sold per set, one table requires one set.
  • Set includes two 3 section slides
  • Material: Hardwood, maple
  • Sanded, Unfinished
  • Closed Length: 38"
  • Leaf Opening: 37-1/2"
  • Use with: 1,2 or 3 - 12" table leaves
  • Individual wood sections are 1" wide by 2-1/4" high.
  • At the curved arc the height is 2-1/2" high.

Selection Guidelines for Gear table slides:

    For use on:

  • Pedestal base tables (table top moves independently of base)
  • Double Pedestal non-dividing base tables (table top moves independently of base)

  • Recommendations:

  • Closed Length of Table Slide: Should be equal to or greater than, one-half the length of table-top when closed.
  • Leaf Opening Measurement: Length of open area when slides are extended: should be slightly larger than combined width of table leaves.
  • Long Leaf-Openings: When using more than 2 or 3, 12" leaves, a drop down center table leg is recommended for added support.
  • Extend Slides to produce the leaf opening.
  • The more overlap that is achieved, between sections, when leaves are placed in the table, the greater the support.
  • Table Leaves: The standard size for table leaves is 12" width however some tables may differ. How large is your leaf opening? This measurement is normally 1-1/2" - 2" longer than the number of table leaves your table accepts. For example: a table with a 26" opening will take 2 standard 12" table leaves. The extra inch or two provides maneuverability when putting in or taking leaves out.

  • For Additional Support:

  •  Use table slides with larger-than-need openings. This results in a greater overlap of table slide sections, providing more support when the table is extended.
  • A drop down center leg can be added to tables with large leaf openings adding more support.

    Installing Table Slides

Install and store table slides in a dry area, excess humidity can affect the slides, particularly before they are installed.

Make sure you have the right type of slides
    • 4 leg tables, dividing base and dividing leg tables where both top and legs move jointly, use standard table slides. (camber, curved arc, compensates sagging in center of table)
    • Solid pedestal and non-dividing base tables, where only the top extends and the base remains stationary, use equalizer gear table slides. (camber, curved arc, compensates sagging of table ends)
    • Using the wrong type of slide will accentuate the sagging of the table instead of compensating for it.

Table Slides are handed requiring both a right and left hand slide for installation.
    • Install a right (marked blue) and a left (marked red).
    • If slides are not marked, check to make sure you have a left and right slide.
    • Using a pair of slides to minimize the wobbling movement of the table when the pulling action is triggered.
    • Proper pairs benefit the overall efficiency of the slides. When one slide is weakened by an outward movement, the opposite slide counter acts by pressing one section against the other, stabilizing the movement and giving the result of a smooth and efficient sliding (opening).

    ATTACHMENT SCREWS
    • Use #10 round headed screws, 1-1/2" long and threaded on 2/3 of the body.
    • Do not strip the screw.
    • Carefully drill pilot holes, in the table top, with a depth stop collar to prevent drilling through table top.
    • Measure screws carefully so that thread protruding from table slide will not go thru table top.

    WHEN INSTALLING
    • Slightly squeeze the parts together to eliminate looseness. The play between the sliding components of the slide prevents the slide from "sticking" when it absorbs a little humidity. Slightly squeezing the parts together at installation eliminates the looseness, but the room remains to absorb the natural humidity variances in a home.
    • To install the slide, close the table but keep the slide slightly open (about ¼"). This will insure that your table always completely closes before the slide does.
    • Install your slides parallel to one another and parallel to your table. A non-parallel installation of the slide would prevent them from opening adequately.
    • For solid pedestal and non-dividing base tables, pre-drill the holes in the center section of the slide before you fix it to your center leg. Make sure the holes do not pierce the dovetail part of the section as the screws would get in the way of the opening.
    • For equalizing slides, make sure nothing gets in the way of the equalizer mechanism.
    • Guidelines for overall size - closed length of table slide:
Closed length of slide should ideally be at least a few inches more than half of your table top.
For example, if your table top (without the extension leaves) measures 48" long, the slide should have at least a closed length of 26" (48"/2 + 2" = 26")
These are manufacturer guidelines only individual applications may vary
