Medium Wood Swivel Wheel Casters are an easy to install providing quick mobility where needed. Ball bearing fork mechanism provides greater turning ability than standard wood wheel casters, enabling caster to swivel easier under weight. Easy to install, drill holes in furniture legs or use existing holes if available, insert grip-neck steel sleeves in hole (casters will sometimes work with existing sleeves). Caster shank snaps in place. If Replacing: lost, damaged or broken casters: all casters on a piece of furniture should be uniform in height, style and appearance to insure proper function.
Grip-neck stem casters use a steel sleeve to hold them in place. Sleeve inserts in furniture leg. Caster slides up into sleeve and snaps in place. This style of caster became popular with the industrial revolution around the mid 1800's.
Furniture leg has socket sleeve inserted in base of leg. Caster stem slips into socket sleeve and snaps in place. Caster is held in place by stem - socket sleeve connection.
Some vintage and antique furniture has a socket sleeve already in place. New casters may or may-not snap into old sleeves. Old sleeves can be removed and replaced with new sleeves.
New installation requires a 3/8" x 1 5/8" hole drilled in bottom of leg for socket sleeve.
