Bed Bolts, 6 inch

Scroll down for additional Product Info and Size

6" Bed Bolts are used to draw wooden bed posts and bed rails tightly together, creating strong rigid joints. Use on antique wood beds and rope beds, where tendon end of bed rail slips into mortise cut into bed post.

Rope beds were used from Colonial times to the mid 1800's. Beds were roped on short wooden pegs which line the head, foot, and side rails. A feather tick, the forerunner of the mattress, was laid on the roping.

Bed Bolts are used to secure bedpost to rails. Insert bed bolts through bed-post into bed-rail and tighten with bed bolt wrench. Use a oval or round bed bed bolt covers to conceal bed bolts. See above black-install-tab for installation information. Today these beds are adapted with spring supports to hold modern spring and mattresses.

    Great resource!

I have an antique bed that I lost the bolts to in my recent move. The originals were hand- forged; after an hour at the hardware store, we couldn't find one with the right spacing on the screw part. My friend googled bed bolts & found this site. Although the bolts aren't an exact match, they worked!

We can now sleep in our beds again. Lost the original bolts. Lucky to find Paxton with replacements.
